I enjoyed the kangaroos over the usual coed wildlife though. There's a wildlife sanctuary on the La Trobe campus so I got to see the world's smallest fern, taste a plant that was like a bit like a pickle, and visit with the kangaroos. Today I had health sciences orientation and met the other international students in my course. There are three of us from the US, two from India, and one from Bhutan. All seem like great people and the course coordinators were fab. I'm quite looking forward to using my brain, being in the academic environment and maintaining a normal schedule, despite still enjoying the social holiday life.

Friday night I went out to the place called Ceres, an environmental park and project where you can watch bands and eat yummy food as well as with buy organic veggies and recycled bicycles and use composting toilets and the like. After a week with the kids on a uni campus it was quite welcome to hang with the laid-back hippies, felt a bit like music fests I've attended, but it's a permanent structure. Nice. Okay, short post for today. Will write more after my yoga retreat next weekend and the start of clases next week. Ciao.
